Itinerary
Arrive in Colombo and transfer to Pegasus Reef Hotel. Our welcome meeting is at 19:30 at the bar where we get to know each other, and off to dinner right after that. Overnight in Pegasus Reef Hotel (Meals: Dinner)
Breakfast at the main restaurant, and we are ready to hit the courts for our first tennis sessions where we’ll enhance our gane with some tips and drills from our expert coaches (10:00 – 13:00). We have enough time maybe for a quick swim before lunch and a bit of relax, as we are on the courts for more tennis (16:30-18:30). Colombo – Pinnawala – Kandy –Colombo 133kms
It’s a full on tour today, so right after breakfast we leave for Kandy, en-route visit Pinnawala elephant orphanage, where we might just reach Pinnawala for feeding time of the baby elephants, a heart-warming sight. We will be able to see a herd of about 50/60 elephants, including many baby elephants being lead, to the river by their mahouts for their daily bathing. We also visit a herbal spice garden before we continue to Kandy. Reaching Kandy in the afternoon where we will enjoy a city tour. Kandy is an exciting place for shopping, lots of souvenirs made of wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, bronze then also there are Ceramics and lots more.
We will also be able to visit Sri Dalada Maligawa, known as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the main attraction of Kandy. It is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy and is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha, a place revered by countless number of people around the world. Our visit also includes visit to a herbal spice garden, Tea Factory and tea plantations near Kandy. We return back to the hotel in Wattala and evening is left at leisure. It’s back to tennis today, so after breakfast, we start our morning session (10:00 – 13:00), and the rest of the day is left at leisure for us to enjoy the sunshine and the beach. Overnight Wattala Pegasus Reef (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner).
Colombo – Galle – Colombo 125km 2 hrs and 30mins drive
After breakfast day we set off for a day excursion to Galle, en route do a Boat Trip in Madu river (Mangrove Islands), including a visit to a Turtle farm and the Coral reef in Hikkaduwa. On arrival in Galle we visit the Dutch Fort, the Old Dutch reformed Church the Museum, and not be surprised to find yourself walking down “Leynbaan” street, (famous street in Rotterdam/Holland!). Enjoy the art of lace-waving, which Galle area is well-known for and of course, the Stilt Fisherman in Ahangama, before we return back to Wattala. Morning tennis sessions, so after breakfast, we set off for the courts again to brush up on our tennis skills (10:00-12:00). Time to freshen up and drive to Colombo city centre, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch at the picturesque Grand Oriental Hotel. Late afternoon we set off to visit Colombo city (Independence Square, BMICH, Pettah Bazar, Dutch Church, Old Parliament area. Overnight Wattal Pegasus Reef (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
Finally, some rest!! Not just yet, as, after breakfast again, we brush up on our tennis skills before our “friendly” competition (10:00 – 13:00). Rest of the day is left at leisure for you to further explore the city and do a spot of shopping before our departure.
This evening, we all meet the bar at 19:30 for our usuall drinks session, followed by a farewell dinner, where we will be joined by staff members of our local ground handling representatives, who worked hard to deliver this program for us. Overnight Wattal Pegasus Reef (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)
Sadly, we say goodbye to Sri Lanka as we transfer to the airport for our return flights.
