Sri Lanka Tennis Break

After breakfast morning is left at leisure, and in the afternoon, we set off for the Tennis Association Academy where we’ll enjoy some tennis time and coaching sessions (16:00 -18:30. Late afternoon we are back at the hotel where we can enjoy the beautiful sunsets and sea on the golden beach. Overnight Pegasus Reef (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)

After breakfast we leave for Kandy, en-route visit Pinnawala elephant orphanage, where we might just reach Pinnawala for feeding time of the baby elephants, a heart-warming sight.  We will be able to see a herd of about 50/60 elephants, including many baby elephants being lead, to the river by their mahouts for their daily bathing. We also visit a herbal spice garden before we continue to Kandy. Reaching Kandy in the afternoon where we will enjoy a city tour. Kandy is an exciting place for shopping, lots of souvenirs made of wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, bronze then also there are Ceramics and lots more.

We will also be able to visit Sri Dalada Maligawa, known as the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the main attraction of Kandy. It is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy and is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha, a place revered by countless number of people around the world. Our visit also includes visit to a herbal spice garden, Tea Factory and tea plantations near Kandy. We return back to the hotel in Wattala and evening is left at leisure. It’s all tennis today, so after breakfast, we set off for the Tennis Association Academy for our tennis drills where we’ll have morning and afternoon court time to brush up on our skills (2hours morning & 2 hours afternoon including social play). After breakfast, proceed on a full-day excursion to Galle, with sightseeing stops along the way starting with Madhu River Boat Safari, enjoying a scenic boat trip along the Madhu River, cruising past mangrove islands rich in birdlife and natural beauty. We will visit the Turtle Hatchery, a conservation project where you can learn about sea turtle protection and watch baby turtles before they are released into the ocean. Next stop is Hikkaduwa Coral Reefs, where we’ll explore the vibrant underwater world of Hikkaduwa, famous for its coral gardens and colourful marine life.

On arrival in Galle, we’ll explore the city’s Dutch heritage, Galle Fort a UNESCO World Heritage Site, originally built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch. Our visits include National Museum, showcasing artifacts from the region’s colonial history, the Dutch Reformed Church, a historic church with gravestones dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries. We wander through Leynbaan Street, one of several streets still carrying Dutch-era names reminiscent of Rotterdam, Holland. Discover Galle’s lace-making tradition, a craft passed down through generations and believed to have Flemish (Dutch) origins.

And on the return journey, we stop at Ahangama to watch the famous stilt fishermen, a unique and picturesque fishing method found only in southern Sri Lanka, before we return back to Colombo. Overnight Pegasus Reef (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)

Back to tennis again, so after breakfast we set off (08:30hrs) for the Tennis Association Academy to practice our tennis skills (3 hours coaching & 1-hour social play). We will then enjoy a delicious lunch at the picturesque Grand Oriental Hotel in Colombo, and late afternoon we visit Colombo city (Independence Square, BMICH, Pettah Bazar, Dutch Church, Old Parliament area. Right after breakfast, we set off (09:30hrs) for our tennis sessions start at Tennis Academy (10:00 – 13:00). Explore the area for a bit of shopping and lunch before we get back on the courts for (16:00 – 18:30).  We return to the hotel, and the evening is left at leisure to relax and enjoy the captivating scenery. It’s a special day today, so a shopping tour in Colombo is a must to see the vibrant buzz of the city. And this evening for dinner, we are joined by members of our local DMC, devised this program for us. Overnight Pegasus Reef (Meals: Breakfast & Dinner)

After breakfast, we say goodbye to Sri Lanka and transfer to airport for onward journey.
